# Readigo

> Readigo is an iOS app for kids ages 6–12. It listens while a child reads aloud and scores the reading in real time. Readigo uses speech recognition tuned for children's voices, then grades four things: accuracy, fluency, pace, and clarity, using phonics rules from the Science of Reading. ## What Readigo Does

When a child reads a story out loud into a phone or tablet, Readigo's speech recognition - tuned for kids' voices - listens in real time. It scores four dimensions of oral reading (accuracy, fluency, pacing, clarity) and gently coaches mispronunciations without shaming the child. Every Monday parents receive an email with the week's metrics and the words their child found difficult.

The coaching methodology is grounded in phonics and structured literacy, drawing on the research base behind repeated oral reading (Samuels, 1979), the Matthew Effect in reading (Stanovich, 1986), and the findings of the National Reading Panel (2000).
